- 5PM – 9PM (Evening)
- 9PM – 5AM (Night)
Findings:
– Overall, there is an increasing trend of crimes from morning until the afternoon.
– There is a decreasing trend of crimes from evening until the night.
– The top three highest peaks occurred for property crimes, followed by miscellaneous crimes, and then sex crimes.
– There is a slight increase for crimes involving weapons and inchoate crimes (attempted crimes), but it’s hardly noticeable.
What are the locations and types of crimes being reported?
Relationship Between Location of Crimes and Hour of Day
Findings:
– There is an increasing trend on crimes from morning until evening.
– The crimes are least likely to happen when you are asleep (night).
– No matter the location of crimes, there is a high increase during 12PM.
– The residential area experiences the most crimes between 12 AM and 3 PM, while from 3 PM to 11 PM, the public area sees the highest crime rates.
Overall
Crimes happen most frequently in residential areas, followed by public spaces, vehicles, and commercial establishments. Educational and recreational areas do not exhibit high counts of crimes compared to these four location groups.
Among the types of crimes, property crimes happen the most, followed by miscellaneous crimes, violent crimes, crimes involving weapons, sex crimes, and inchoate crimes (attempted crimes).
